Our Customer is a General Contractor operating in the Power sector. Specifically, it realizes auxiliary systems and plants for large turbo gas used in many parts of the world for the production of electricity.
The Needs
The request addressed to ESA was very clear and tight: to design, build, assemble and prepare for installation a medium voltage booth with very little technical input data on the upstream grid, to protect and start a medium voltage engine without being able to carry out tests or trials, to provide and protect a MV/LV transformer for all auxiliary services to the turbine cooling system.
All in an “assembly box” ready to be reassembled after transport by ship in a country of a very particular nation with high risks of personal safety for the operators and with the certainty of not being able to find equipment and components suitable to ensure a good installation on site and even less spare parts.
The Solution
The solution found was the result of a careful examination of the materials used (meticulously choosing brands and products with high reliability and great simplicity of construction) and a rational and simplified care in the construction of the cabin itself and the box. The cabin was sent to the site already all assembled and tested from the point of view of electrical and protections while the box and transformer containment were disassembled and then cataloged and photographed to facilitate the reassembly on site through a manual assembly paper and an audio video tutorial on the management and use of the cabin complete.
